Smith and Robinson had found the best way into Wilton House grounds, at the far corner with the most tree cover. Suitably equipped and armed they set out one evening after dark to reccy the grounds for a longer mission..
A couple of old empty crates were used to help climb up over the estate wall ...
then using the wooded area near the wall they worked their way down towards the house ....
about half way there they skirted round behind a nissen hut (nearby there were a couple more), two sentries on night patrol were heading away from them .....
there was plenty of cover, they reached the river and worked their way towards the house; out of the gloom arose the palladian bridge across the river; beyond that they could see the house..
from their vantage point the could just make out the pathways on the other side of the river and the entrances to the house and adjoining buildings - enough work for tonight - they had the information they needed - they headed back the way they came and off home .....

Love the use of greyscale photos to suggest night intrigues. Very effective.
I almost find myself wanting Smith and Robinson to succeed!
